It’s getting my goat again…….. automated phone calls. Calls where the “robot” tells the recipient of the call to push “1” for this, or “2” for that, or 3 for “this other thing.” Trying to push “O” for the operator gets me nowhere. I look the robot calls that tell me, when I answer the phone, to “please continue to hold…….” Whaaat? Or “This is an important call.” Well, if so, attach a live body to it. Callers get three seconds to tell me who they would like to speak to. If the call is automated, it means a quick hang up as soon as the robot speaks. If you want to conduct business using landlines (or cell phones) be courteous to the answeree, and either give them options to get to a live body or give them a live body from the beginning.
